Greetings at the end of summer! I hope you’ve had a good season. I’ve been very busy with new content for THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DESK.
I am working on new articles about contemporary working artists, and a new—or rather, reimagined—series of posts about studio visits I have made in my long past career as an independent curator. STUDIO JOURNAL will be limited to paid subscriptions.
I am writing more about books, including FIRST READS, a series on the important authors who have shaped me as a writer, focusing specifically upon the very first books I read by them. Currently revisiting John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men and reading, for the very first time The Bell by Iris Murdoch.
Also I will be posting more on art history and criticism books for a series called THE ART READER, starting with “Louise Nevelson: Light and Shadow” (2016) by Laurie Wilson and “Dennis Oppenheim: Body to Performance 1969-73” (2016) by Nick Kaye and Amy van Winkle Oppenheim. These will also be limited to paid subscriptions.
My Letters from the Desk will continue to be available to all free readers, as will select articles on an irregular schedule. Looking forward to an article on Ada Calhoun’s recent memoir “Also A Poet: Frank O’Hara, My Father, and Me” and an essay on the creative history and new work of painter Theresa Daddezio.
Please consider a paid subscription to receive all future posts.
